Back to the grind
I can't believe I have to go back to work on Monday! Where has the time gone? I am just so glad that I will only be working 3 days a week and Davey will be with her those days so it isn't like she will be in childcare which makes it a little easier. I am starting to wonder what the point is though, since I am going to quit in January. Why not just do it now?
In Goldie news, she had her shots yesterday. She went from sweet sedate smiling baby to ferocious miniature hellbeast in zero seconds and that lasted all day yesterday. After a day of trying to quell the beast I thought it best for her to have some quality time with her father last night while I worked around the house. It worked and she even slept for 9 hours, fed and then slept another 3! I love my baby.

No baby here
So it is a big day here at Chez Davey....there is no baby here. I mean, she will come back, but until tommorow a.m. she is with her godparents who so graciously invited her for a slumber party. I am not sure how much fun the adults will have with a slumber party with someone who is 8 weeks old, but who cares, I don't have to change diapers for a day.
I was so looking forward to this day (we planned it awhile ago). We were going to go up to a casino and play cards, out to a romantic dinner....maybe some adult time, sleep in. Pure bliss. But instead Davey got struck down with some husband-striking-down-weekend-ruining-godamn-motherfucking-cold. I am SO INCREDIBLY BUMMED!! It's not like it's his fault or anything, the poor guy is dying. But seriously.....FUCK ME I have bad luck.
So I guess I will just continue sitting on the computer downloading music and working on a lovely bottle of reisling at 3:00 in the afternoon and pumping my boobs. The single life is a little different than I remembered.....

updates
After months of anticipation, excitment and occasionally dread, I have officially bonded with my offspring. The enormity of the task at hand has finally soaked in and I am totally wrapped around her unbelievably freaking cute fingers!
We had to say goodbye to our dog rainbow this week. We didn't want to see her go, but there was a difference of opinion happening. Rainbow wanted to eat the baby and we disagreed. Apparently Australian cattle dogs (Aka red heeler) may be man's best friend, but baby's nemesis. She was Davey's child before we got married and this is just killing him. I would really like to get another dog (one that eats kibble, not babies) asap, but I will wait until Davey is ready.
Bow, we miss you already.

By popular demand.....
And I thought the readers were sick of hearing about poop! Well, the poor kid had to go in for baby's first barium enema last Friday. I was totally prepared for major trauma, screaming, chaos etc. but alas it was not to be. There was crying, but it was me, not Goldie. I can't believe what a mellow babe I have!! I do wish she would have refrained from vomiting on my new sweater until the dr. and I had finished shaking hands, but no complaints. Anyway, I have to take her to a surgeon who will interpret the results on Thurs. Please send prayers. The poor kid is so bound up that a BARIUM FREAKING ENEMA only made her go a little. She seems happy enough though.
I cannot sing the praises of the baby bjorn enough. If you don't have one and don't think you need one or if you had one and thought it isn't worth the straps that seem complicated like trigonometry.....THINK AGAIN! This is the BEST THING EVER! I am so in love. I can sit down, stand up, and after a sequence of events you don't even want to know about, I found I can even lay down in it and SLEEP!!! Think about it.....cooking, typing, anything I want!!

milestones
Can't believe my little babe is almost 7 weeks old! I am still adoring being at home with her and am dreading going back to work on 10/1 even if it is only 3 days a week. We have a little routine now, she wakes at 5:00 am, Davey gives her a bottle of breastmilk and hangs out with her a couple hours and puts her in the boppy at my side about 7:00 where she sleeps a bit more. Then we hit the floor running, I put her in my new most-favorite baby accessory, the baby bjorn. Dude, she sleeps, she looks around and I have TWO count'em TWO hands to do with what I may. I work on my new website, do laundry, ANYTHING I WANT!!
Goldie also now does not hate the bath with the wild and romping passion of weeks gone by. She now tolerates it quite well and no longer smells like sour breast milk. I take what I can get. Much love to all internets and I promise to stop neglecting the blog.

Found a Hobby!
I knew I would go insane staring at the babe all day while I am home, and I have so much fun with the blog that I decided to teach myself some HTML and make a webpage. About what, well, I don't know yet, but I will! Anyway I bought the fancy software and am ready to give it a go! Been looking for about 15 years for a hobby and I think the internet is it!

Will the poop posts ever end?
I really was looking forward to a non-poop related post. Alas, it was not to be. Yesterday the anti-poopster started doing to weird screaming and straining and puking routine we are becoming so used to. I knew we would have to take her in, but I was so tired that I actually asked Davey if I could take a nice long nap first. He is generally the more lucid parent and with one look he convinced me that I had better get my sorry body into the car with said baby and go to the hospital. This time they took a battery of scary x-rays and put her in a torture-looking device to take an upright one. Davey and I cried so hard I think the x-ray tech was about to lose it too. Anyway, they don't know why her bowels refuse to move to groove so we are going to a specialist this week.....wish us luck!
