An Open Letter

Dear guy who doesn't supervise his child,

Hi. You don't know me. I'll bet you don't get many letters from women, mostly because you are a douche bag. If it sounds like I am being a bit harsh on you, then let me use that as an opener to say that your son was a bit harsh on my child in the coffee shop playroom today. What was that? You had no idea? Of course you didn't because YOU WERE SEVERAL ROOMS AWAY PLAYING PINBALL ON THE INTERNET DRINKING SOME KIND OF DOUCHEY FAUX COFFEE.

I also want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to discipline you child after he PINCHED, GRABBED and SHOVED THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE. I was just thinking the other day that I have a lack of child discipline opportunities in my life. THANK YOU, ASSWIPE.

I hope you will someday reap the fruits of your excellent parenting. It would appear that your son is on target to follow in your footsteps, he is kind of a douche bag too.

You must be proud.

It's likely he wouldn't have done anything anyways.

Sigh.

I have a friend just like that.

She sees her kids hit, pinch, and headbutt my kids, but because they are younger (but old enough to know better) she does nothing.

Her three year old deliberately pulled my 6 year olds hair and headbutted my eleven year old three times in a row--no response.

She's always got an excuse for their misbehavior, if she acknowledges it at all.

What's worse is that she is constantly comparing her kids to mine and thinks they are like twins. Not freaking likely. More like polar opposites. Angels and Devils.

Best yet is she expects my eleven year old to watch her kids and chides my son if her kid gets in trouble.

Sorry, you hit a really sore spot with me. Since this guy was a stranger, I would have pointed this out to his Dad. It's hard to point out to a friend that you disagree with how she parents and disciplines, eh?

I hate that people do not feel the need to supervise their children. But what is worse is when they are rtight there and STILL don't do anything! I hate that with a passion. It makes me want to ask them why they had children in the first place.

Love this post. Wish I could write it to a friend of mine whose son is aggressive but she lets it all pass...grrr.
