Death Wish

I'll start this post by saying that everything turned out ok. Just so you know.

Yesterday morning I packed up our troupe and headed up to my aunts house for a play date with her granddaughter. We had a fine time and when we were ready to head out to the car I picked up Roob and Goldie headed to the her side of the car where I figured she would stand until I got there to open the door for her. I figured wrong.

In an instant she dashed down the driveway and headed into the street. My heart dropped into my shoes. I saw a Suburban coming. Goldie didn't. I knew I couldn't get there in time so I just started screaming like a crazy person. Goldie didn't change course. At the last instant, before he would have plowed into my baby girl, the driver heard me and swerved just in time. Time stopped. Goldie finally stopped. I ran down and scooped her up and started yelling. She apparently found the whole scene with her crazed mother quite funny and started laughing. I think I gave her the shaken baby. Had that driver not had his windows down she would be dead.

I am still not quite recovered. Hopefully something more interesting tomorrow. I am still busy thanking whatever Gods will listen.

Oh my goodness!! I am SO glad everything turned out the way it did, though I know that it will take time for the image to go away. Children are such expolorers, and they are just no naive to the dangers of the world. It's so hard to be a parent, I often feel overwhelmed!!!

I say you go to Starbucks and treat yourself to an Iced Venti whatever you get . . .see, I'm just as bad as the Starbucks people you and I complain about so often!!

I hope you have a better day!

That is a MINIMUM of 5 years of your life and 1000 future grey hairs. I am SO glad she's ok. My heart is pounding hard just thinking about it.

Holy Freak! How many times do I do that? Just stand the 2 year old next to the car and finish putting the stroller away while the car cools off or something? Like 3x a week. Seriously, nearly wet myself reading this and picturing it... Hold that girl tight and get yourself some deep breaths.

Oh. My. Gosh. That is my worst nightmare, which is why we have spent the last six months drilling into my daughter's head to PUT YOUR HAND ON THE CAR AND DON'T MOVE! or serious trouble happens.

Glad that everything turned out happily, and that the driver was paying attention.

OMG how freaking scary! Must go hug my boys and drill the mantra "DO NOT LEAVE THE FRONT PORCH WITHOUT MOM OR DAD" into their heads!

Ugh, how terrifying. So glad everything is ok, but I can see how you would be shaken up for quite some time.

This actually happened to this summer at my daughter's birthday party in the Park. Damien ran down the sidewalk from the gazebo and with everyone's cars blocking the view I knew he wouldn't be seen. I got to him and grabbed his hand right as he came out of the cars and the person slammed on their brakes when they saw him. My heart was beating a zillion miles an hour.

I second the hand on the car rule. The kids do that when they get out of the van first.
